Hi! It’s Neelam. We’ve had some changes around here and after announcing them last week it felt right to follow up with a short blog on why these changes and updates were so important.
And so to give you a little reintroduction as I step into my next season…
About Me
So to start, I’m Neelam, mid-thirites, London loving British South Asian girlie. My work centred around Personal Style and Identity and I am a Creative Consultant. I started my business and social media account (Neelam Personal Stylist) around four years ago after what was probably a quarter life crisis. My work career until that point had fluctuated a lot and ranged from email marketing to merchandising and ecommerce. As much as I hated the roles, they gave me tangible experience that has led me to where I am today.
I trained as a Personal Stylist during a period of my life that was really challenging. We all go through them in different ways and for me my saviour was my work. I poured my heart and soul into learning everything I could around personal style, making some questionable IG reels and putting myself out there in ways I never would have before.
It was such a pivotal point and along the way new opportunities were emerging. From working with clients one to one on everything from colour analysis to wardrobe declutters and personal shops, to working with brands on their creative strategy for campaigns.
My world and work was pivoting and evolving but there were always some underlying pillars that formed the way in which I worked. Defining these now as I step into my next season and sharing them with you as my community is such an important part of this next season of the business so that you really get to know who I am and how I work.

1. Identity
This term is having a bit of a moment as people are more and more connected with who they are at their core and how they can be genuine and authentic in what they do. For so long I went through my own identity crisis. I did the deep and hard work to figure out who the hell I was and what I wanted from life. This involved understanding my cultural roots, relearning what it meant to be a woman and a woman of colour and the influence that I wanted to have in the world.
And so identity through my work is how I can help others like me, whether individuals or brands, to clarify and express who they truly are and what they stand for through the visual.
2. Evolution
As human beings we always go through periods of evolution. We may gain new ways of thinking, drop and release any outdated beliefs and thought processes and step into versions of ourselves that we never even knew existed.
Often evolution can feel uncomfortable because change isn’t always easy. But when you learn to embrace it, your perspective on life can change so drastically.
This evolution is so key in our development and so when I work with my clients I want them to feel like they are supported in their evolution as they go through life changes and next level transitions.
3. Creative Expression
For me, tapping more into my creativity through style and the visual, I have been able to express myself in new ways, often without having to say a word. I love to help my clients to achieve the same so that their inner world and their outer expression can align in a message that resonates with their audience. We are all creative beings. Sometimes we just need the support to unleash our creative potential.
4. Purposeful Presence
My work is on purpose. I have structured my business and my life in a way that allows me to fulfill my purpose. And being able to support others in who they are becoming and the impact they are making is so important in the work that I do. We are all here for a reason at this time. And when we deny our true purpose, we are denying the world our beautiful gifts. I strive to support my clients in being able to fully embody their purpose with presence.
Can you resonate with these pillars? I really hope you do, because they have been refined through the impact that I am making in the world through my work.
The world has felt like such a heavy place for so long. I absorb so much and when there is so much pain, suffering, destruction and injustice in the world for me it really festers in my body, whether through sleepless nights, muscle pains or my body just shutting down.
I process a lot within my own space and time. But what I have learnt over the last few years and with the growth and evolution of my business is that when I work on myself, I make a small part of the world better. And when it can feel like an endless mountain to climb on your own to make a difference in the world, this is the only thing that really feels within my control.
My brand is steeped in my own personal experiences. It is a personal brand after all. And so yes my experience comes from helping other women like me, but that work has been shaped through my own experiences, my struggles and my exponential growth.
I really hope this resonates and you can understand more behind the changes I have made as I move into my next season.
